Ask the Right Way: Mastering Interrogative Pronouns for Grade 6

This Grade 6 worksheet helps students master interrogative pronouns — question words like who, whom, whose, which, and what — that are used to ask questions about people, objects, ownership, and choices. Through multiple-choice questions, fill-in-the-blanks, true/false statements, underlining tasks, and paragraph-based question formation, learners understand when to use each interrogative pronoun correctly and avoid common confusions like mixing up "who" and "whom" or "what" and "which."

Why Interrogative Pronouns Matter in Grammar?

Interrogative pronouns are essential for forming clear and precise questions. For Grade 6 learners, this topic is important because:
    1. "Who" asks about the subject of an action (a person).
    2. "Whom" asks about the object of an action (a person receiving the action).
    3. "Whose" asks about ownership or possession.
    4. "Which" asks about a specific choice from a limited set.
    5. "What" asks about things, objects, or general information.
    6. Mastering these pronouns helps students ask better questions in both writing and conversation.

    What’s Inside This Worksheet?

This worksheet includes five engaging activities that build fluency with interrogative pronouns:

    🧠 Exercise 1 – Multiple Choice Questions
Students read 10 sentences and choose the correct interrogative pronoun (who, whom, whose, which, what) to complete each question.

✏️ Exercise 2 – Fill in the Blanks
Students complete 10 questions by filling in the correct interrogative pronoun based on what information is being asked.

    📋 Exercise 3 – True or False
Students read 10 statements about interrogative pronoun rules (e.g., "Whose shows possession") and mark them as true or false.

🔤 Exercise 4 – Underline the Interrogative Pronoun
Students read 10 sentences and underline the interrogative pronoun in each question.

📝 Exercise 5 – Paragraph Writing (Identify and Form Questions)
Students read a paragraph about a family visiting a new park and identify the interrogative pronouns already used, then understand how to form questions appropriately.

Help your child stop guessing between "who" and "whom" and start asking questions with grammatical precision.

Exercise 5 – Interrogative Pronouns in the Paragraph (Identified)
Last weekend, my family decided to visit the new park downtown. It was a large, beautiful space with fountains, playgrounds, and many trees. As we walked in, I asked my sister, "Who designed this park?" She didn't know, so I asked a nearby employee, "What time does the park close?" After we walked around for a while, I noticed some unusual sculptures. I asked my father, "Whose idea was it to place sculptures like this in the park?" We sat down on a bench, and my brother asked, "Which area of the park is best for playing sports?" As we walked to the café inside the park, I asked the barista, "What are the most popular drinks here?" After a relaxing afternoon, we decided to leave.

(Note: Students are expected to identify the underlined interrogative pronouns in the paragraph as shown above.)
